Synopsis from Goodreads
A Supernatural Young Adult Romance:
Do you believe in heaven or hell? Angels or Demons? Ghosts, or even second chances at life?
Losing someone is one of the hardest things imaginable, for Jaylynn-first it was her father-and then it was him. The one that had been her first love, the one that had given her the highest hopes towards a wonderful future together, forever.
He, who had promised her he would never leave her just as her father had. Jace, the war hero.
High School senior, Jaylynn doesn't know how to cope with this new loss, and when Jagger-a boy that reminds her entirely too much of Jace enters her world- trouble will brew as secrets and mysteries are unraveled.
This book will be posted as a blog story on my blog by chapter two weeks at a time, in September the full edition will be available for order.
I was approached a few days ago by fellow bookblogger, Natalie Valdes, to review her new book Pinky Promise? by chapter. I have never reviewed anything by chapter before, but it is pretty cool. Actually makes it easier to breakdown things I suppose. Nonetheless, I am very glad I was asked. Pinky Promise, well it shows plenty of promise. Bad pun, I know, still, just from the first chapter, I can say this is going to be a beautifully, heart wrenching story.
Pinky Promise starts off with tragedy. A young man is shot by some kid while riding his motorcycle, but we learn who is yet. All we know so far is that he is misses his mother after she was killed by his alcoholic father. And he is actually relieved to be shot because this way, he can see his mother again. Then more tragedy takes place when we meet our main character Jaylynn, who has already lost her father, is coping with losing the love of her life. She is a high school senior and has to go back to class sometime. So when she finally gets back, she is just trying to keep her head above water until she runs into the new guy in school. And for some reason, he reminds Jaylynn too much of Jace, the man she lost.
This is a Young Adult, Paranormal story. So far, we don’t have much paranormal except for what happened to the man in the beginning. I was very suspicious about the white light. Nonetheless, Valdes does a great job with grabbing you. This chapter was very emotional. You really feel for Jaylynn. She is losing those she holds dear. She has already lost her dad at the young age of eight and now she is trying to handle the loss of her fiancé. He went off to war and he dies as a war hero. She blames herself for not trying hard enough to keep him with her.
I am really, really intrigued with this book. Please be sure to visit Valdes blog. She will be posting the book by chapter every two weeks on my blog. So please get on over to her site and read the first chapter as we speak. I promise you will be hooked as well.
