Synopsis from Goodreads

Born into old money, Lily Ayres lives at Waverly, her family’s estate situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Paris, Virginia. She is a strange, small, almost mute, young woman who has no idea that her father has given her to the Vampire King Krieger. Walter Ayres is the King’s Keeper and part of a secret society of historians who unearth, preserve, and attempt to understand relics of long forgotten civilizations.

Lily has never felt comfortable in the human world, but after she suspiciously falls down a flight of stone steps, and is healed and claimed by Krieger, she realizes there is another world. In this Other Realm she feels a sense of belonging, and begins to untwine the mysterious event which left her mentally and psychologically damaged. When Walter disappears in England, Lily works with human and supernatural beings to uncover his whereabouts. With each new discovery, she is pulled deeper into the vortex of magic, intrigue, and dark desires that permeates the supernatural world. The revelations revealed unfold a story of deception and betrayal that threaten to tear the thin veil between the supernatural and human world asunder.

The Last Keeper's Daughter follows a woman named Lily. Her family is very rich and live in a mansion, but that doesn't mean that Lily's life has been easy. She isn't like other people. She can remember everything she has seen and heard, so she keeps contact with other people to a minimum. Her childhood was difficult since she was very sick and would have died. But there are parts of her past she can't remember and she doesn't know exactly why. She also doesn't know that her father Walter is a keeper for a vampire. Keepers are a vampire's right-hand man. They keep track of their history and do their bidding. Walter asks the vampire, Krieger, for a favor. He wants Krieger to protect Lily while he is gone. But neither Lily or Krieger are fully aware of what Walter is into and Lily will have to pay for it.

Instant favorite! That is it. This book was just plain awesome. I loved absolutely everything about this book. The characters, the story, the plot, the mystery, everything fell into place beautifully. I couldn't put this bad boy down.

Something bad happened to Lily and Krieger must save her. Krieger had no intention of protecting Lily himself, he was just going to have people watch over her, I love how quickly that changed. I actually thought Krieger was a villain when we first see him and Walter together, but that quickly changed. I love him. He is what I always imagine a vampire to be. He can be bossy and scary, but he was pretty amazing when you get down to it. I loved Lily and Krieger together. Lily was extremely shy and fragile, but I love that with Krieger, she had quite the backbone. The longer she is with him, the stronger she gets. They balanced each other out very well. The way they met actually reminded me of when Bill and Sookie first met. It made me love it even more (I don't know why, but that really is one of my favorite scenes ever, in the book and on the show). I am hoping Lily comes to her senses in the next book. There were times when she got mad at him and I just wanted to punch her. She had some immature moments. But to be fair, I think it is more because she doesn't really know who she is especially in this new world she has been thrust into.

We even have Merlin. Merlin! Well he says he is a Merlin, not THE Merlin. But I think he is lying given all the things he can do. Merlin is Krieger's advisor and he was awesome, a little cold, but awesome! I also loved Hunter. Hunter is the detective that was brought on to investigate the murder that took place at a church. Until an agent shows up and takes the case from him. He knows the case is huge, so he continues his own investigation against orders. But Hunter knows he is in the case of his life when every one he works with starts disappearing. He ends up in the vampire world. They want him to help them with the investigation. I really enjoyed Hunter, he made me laugh and had a lot of guts. I don't know if I would have had the balls to take on a room full of vampires that wouldn't hesitate to kill me. I am huge fan of the Vantors, werewolf/vampire hybrids, specifically Liam. He was Lily's main guard. I loved the friendship between them much to Krieger's dislike. But out of all these characters, I love Lucien. I want more Lucien! I get the feeling he will play a bigger part in the next book especially given the ending. At least I hope so. Goodness, I hope there will be another book.

This story was just epic. I love the amount mystery that Trogner puts in this story. This is way more than a romance. I think fans of mystery would be into this story. We slowly uncover things about Walter and the things that he has been hiding from his family. We also have the mystery of the phantom that seems to be stalking Lily. No one can sees him except Lily. With the killings taking place, this phantom is the number suspect, but no one knows who or what he is. But when we get to the end and find out exactly who has been behind the murders, you will be shocked. It really is only the beginning. We also find out what Walter has been hiding. It was beyond creepy. I definitely got shivers.

I highly recommend this story to anyone who likes a little romance and a dark fantasy. I hung on every word with this book. Trogner oozes talent and I am definitely a fan. The story will have you hooked from the first page. It is sexy, suspenseful, and full of twists and turns. An absolute must read, add this to your wishlist right now.

Due to the daily spam comments I have been getting lately and to avoid the annoying word verification, Anonymous comments are no more. I do not want bargains on bags, watches, jerseys, boots and other crap. Geez, they could at least spam me with book and movie stuff, I would be somewhat interested LOL! Thank you :D
