Guest Post + Review + $50 Amazon GC Giveaway: The Guilty Innocent (Knights of the Darkness Chronicles #2) by D.N. Simmons

Hello again Vagabonds. Please welcome D. N. Simmons again to the site. She is the UF/PNR author of the Knights of the Darkness Chronicles. She is here to talk about how her Muse has every intention on torturing her. Simmons will also be giving away a $50 Amazon gift card to one lucky read. So sit back and enjoy.

Hello Everyone,

Boy, am I lucky to be here. On several occasions, my Muse has tied me up and taken over my Author Guest Posts. Apparently, she feels that I’m not giving her enough recognition for her part in creating the Knights of the Darkness Chronicles. How did she put it, ah yes… she claims it’s HER series and that she should be the one to tell readers about how ‘ground-breaking and entertaining it is’. Those were her exact words. Now, don’t get me wrong, I agree with her about the series, but let’s be real. I’ve always wanted to write a series that was original in every way from the story lines to the characters. It wasn’t her idea to create a series “absent restraint” as she stated in one stolen guest spot, where I don’t have one main character or couple. I wanted to be able to write a series where I was free to tell the tale from any character’s point of view. Not only do you know what my heroes are doing, but you also get to read the story from my villains’ perspectives, as well. How often do you get to look into the mind of the bad guy and know what truly motivates them? That concept intrigued me, so I explored it in every book of the KOTDC.

I also don’t appreciate my Muse claiming that if it weren’t for her, I’d still be looking at a blank computer screen with only the words “Chapter One” on it. Give me a break! I was the one who came up with sexy and dangerous characters like Darian, the alluring master vampire of Chicago or Warren, the alpha male S.U.I.T. detective who’s as hotlicious as he is vicious. I wanted to create characters that readers could instantly fall in love with. They can pick and choose who they love the most because I wanted my characters to be realistic and relatable. That was MY idea, not hers! You know what… I’m not going to make this a big deal. Yes, my Muse is a huge part of why I’ve had so much fun writing the Knights of the Darkness Chronicles. She did help me come up with every unique and exciting story line. So to you, Muse, I say Thank You. And to you readers, I say thank you for lending me your eyes and time. I hope you decide to read the Knights of the Darkness Chronicles; you won’t be disappointed that you did. Take it from me, I’m not just the author, I’m also one of its many number one fans. :D

Synopsis from Goodreads

The Guilty Innocent is the second novel in the edgy, action-packed, sexually-charged, Knights of the Darkness Chronicles.

In this installment, Darian, the gorgeous, charismatic and charming master vampire of Chicago is framed for a crime he didn't commit, but why? His lover, Xavier, Natasha and a few others must travel halfway across the world to find out who and why before time runs out and all hell breaks loose!

Original, sexy and gritty, the Knights of the Darkness Chronicles will suck you in and take you for a ride you won't forget!

This book has been previously published and has been substantially revised from its original release.

The Guilty Innocent is book two in D.N. Simmons' Knights of the Darkness Chronicles series. I absolutely loved the first book, Desires Unleashed, so I jumped on this very quickly. This time around we follow Natasha after tragedy strikes someone she loves. To make matters worse, Darian has been framed for it. She now has seven days to prove his innocence, if not, Darian goes to trial and they know they will shoot first and ask questions later. And Darian will destroy anyone he has to before that happens. With the help of her shapeshifter cop friend Warren and the help of her and Darian's lover, Xavier, they set out to Russia to find the evidence they need to clear Darian. They uncover that things go way past the Russian mafia and that Natasha and her newfound friends are in a lot of danger.

Oh my goodness, Simmons has done it again. I read this in a day. I couldn't put this down. I loved this even more than book 1. I loved Natasha in this book. I love that in a room of vampires and shapeshifters she can hold her own. I loved her attitude in this book. She bends over backwards to protect those she loves and cares about. I loved her even more in this book. I loved Xavier in this book as well. He was incredible and he definitely goes high on my book boyfriend list. Oh my goodness, just perfect. I loved all the characters in this book. Most surprising was Elise. In Desires Unleashed, she was awful. She was quite the b****. Actually she starts off with quite the attitude with Natasha. We know Elise wants Darian and was obsessed with him in book 1. So much so that she pushes aside a fellow shifter that wants and loves her, Sergio. I loved him a lot in this book as well.

This story was just full of action, tears, and laughs. It was fast paced and I breezed through it. The idea was great. Someone had the cajones to frame Darian. They want something from him and they need him out of the way to get it. They are planning something big and the team have to work to stop it all. That is if they don't get killed on the way. The moment they set foot in Russia, they are constantly getting shot at and chased down. It was quite an adrenaline rush.

I looooooved this book so much. It is definitely one of my favorite reads this year (along with Desires Unleashed). It was full of very light and very dark moments. It was sexy, emotional and all around fun. I loved all the feelings that were explored in this book. I found myself crying at times especially near the end. Not to mention the amount of laughs this book brings specifically from Devin. He is a shifter with quite the personality. I loved him the moment he opened his mouth. I hope we get more of him in the future books. This book is also full of some very memorable scenes. Like what Sergio has to do when he needs to spy on the enemies. I had tears in my eyes, I couldn't stop laughing. Let's not forget the very end. Oh goodness, now that is how you end a book. Natasha asked quite the favor from the boys and it took me about five minutes to compose myself and continue reading. But it is a favor I was glad to witness. I am one happy woman right now. You have to start this series. It is an amazing PNR/UF read, wonderfully written and chalk full of characters worth raving about. Highly recommended.

  1. I am an avid reader and I love Paranormal romance,it is one of my favorite genres. In D.n. Simmons I found another new author to read,so I'm always thankful for a new read and author. Thank you for the giveaway and the opportunity !

Due to the daily spam comments I have been getting lately and to avoid the annoying word verification, Anonymous comments are no more. I do not want bargains on bags, watches, jerseys, boots and other crap. Geez, they could at least spam me with book and movie stuff, I would be somewhat interested LOL! Thank you :D
