Synopsis from Goodreads

When college student Rena Collins finds herself nose-to-chest with the campus outcast, her rumor-laced notions are shattered. Handsome, considerate, and seemingly sane, Wallace Blake doesn’t look like he spends his nights alone, screaming and banging on the walls of his dorm room. Hell, he doesn’t look like he spends his nights alone, period.

Too curious for her own good, Rena vows to uncover the truth behind Wallace’s madman reputation--and how two seconds of contact had left her with bruises. Of course, there are a few setbacks along the way: guilt, admiration, feelings of the warm and fuzzy variety…

Not to mention the unwanted attention of Wallace's powerful, supernaturally-gifted family.

They’re a bloodline divided by opposing ideals, two soon-to-be warring factions that live in secret among us. When Rena ends up caught in their crossfire, Wallace has no choice but to save her by using his powers. Now they’re really in trouble. With war on the horizon and Rena’s life in the balance, he needs to put some distance between them. But Rena won’t let go. If fighting is what it takes to prove her own strength and keep Wallace in her life, then that’s what she’ll do--even if it means risking a whole lot more than her heart.

Strength is a story that follows a girl named Rena and her life in college. Rena is off to meet one of her best friends, Aiden. But she is afraid to since his next door neighbor is called the madman on campus. Every night the “madman” would scream and cause a raucous in his room. No one knows why, but people have made their own speculations. They think he is a killer or something. But after one day of accidentally bumping into the crazy guy, named Wallace, after also calling him crazy, Rena wants to know why people have called him crazy and takes the chance to get to know him. She quickly finds out that Wallace really isn't crazy. As a matter of fact, he is freaking perfect. But he does have one secret – he may not be human. And Rena may have stumbled into something she may not be prepared for.

Oh my goodness. I want the sequel like yesterday. I loooooooved this book so much. Everything fit just right for me. I loved Rena. She had me laughing and she had balls. She was stubborn and willing to do what she can to help people. I love how she never gives up on Wallace even though everyone was afraid of him. Even when she was in difficult situations, I never felt like she was a damsel in distress. She kept her head on straight and did all she could to save herself. I love this chick, she definitely has earned a spot on the “great kickass heroines” list.

And then we have Wallace. Oh God, Wallace. He is definitely one of my favorite book boyfriends. Oh my goodness, can I clone him somehow? He was sexy and sweet. He was hot, but he tried his best to stay away from people giving his incredible amount of strength and his past. He is really haunted by it and it has made him quite the recluse. Also his strange and chaotic outbursts at night that have given him his “madman” reputation has made avoid human contact. I just loved him. I also liked Wallace's brother Cole. You will hate him at first and I mean really hate him, but give him a chance. You will be surprised. I know I was. Also Rena's friends were a lot of fun. Aiden was the adorable geek who was frightened by Wallace, but I like how this works out for him. Also Gabby, Rena's roommate, who cracked me up in this book. She definitely had a mouth on her. She can't keep a secret and always seems to share plenty especially with her “bedmates”. But she was a fun character and I liked the little backstory we got about her and why she was the way she was.

The story is fast paced and loads of fun. I love what we learn about Wallace and what he is. But things really kick into gear when Cole shows up in the book. I wouldn't have seen those connections at all, but the story is fascinating. Wallace's family history plays a huge role in this and I love all the things that were revealed. Oh man, is it exciting. I love also the growing romance between Rena and Wallace. We don't get any sex scenes right out, but there is a reason. There scenes together were either action packed, super sweet, or super steamy. I loved them all.

I highly recommend this read to New Adult fans. I couldn't put this down. I can't wait to what is next. I loved all of these characters. I was fully invested in this story. Everything just worked for me. I will be rereading this book for sure until the next one comes out which can't get here fast enough. I can't wait to uncover the bigger mysteries that are sure to rise. I am dying for more. A must read!

About Carrie Butler
Carrie daydreamed her way through college—until they thrust a marketing degree into her hands, slapped a summa cum laude seal on the corner, and booted her out into a less-than-stellar job market. Instead of panicking at the prospect of unemployment, she used her Midwestern logic to steer into the skid and point her life in the direction she really wanted to go: writing out those daydreams.

  2. I think I was reading New Adult books before they were re-categorized.

Due to the daily spam comments I have been getting lately and to avoid the annoying word verification, Anonymous comments are no more. I do not want bargains on bags, watches, jerseys, boots and other crap. Geez, they could at least spam me with book and movie stuff, I would be somewhat interested LOL! Thank you :D
