Synopsis from Goodreads

A New Adult Dark Contemporary Romance, not suitable for people sensitive to grief, slavery, and nonconsensual sex. A story about finding love in the strangest of places, a will of iron that grows from necessity, and forgiveness that may not be enough.

“My life was complete. Happy, content, everything neat and perfect.
Then it all changed.
I was sold.”

Tess Snow has everything she ever wanted: one more semester before a career in property development, a loving boyfriend, and a future dazzling bright with possibility.

For their two year anniversary, Brax surprises Tess with a romantic trip to Mexico. Sandy beaches, delicious cocktails, and soul-connecting sex set the mood for a wonderful holiday. With a full heart, and looking forward to a passion filled week, Tess is on top of the world.

But lusty paradise is shattered.

Kidnapped. Drugged. Stolen. Tess is forced into a world full of darkness and terror.

Captive and alone with no savior, no lover, no faith, no future, Tess evolves from terrified girl to fierce fighter. But no matter her strength, it can’t save her from the horror of being sold.

Can Brax find Tess before she’s broken and ruined, or will Tess’s new owner change her life forever?

Woooooooow! That is all I have to say, just wow! Have you ever read a book that when it is over, you are just sort of left in a daze for a while. Your body is just trying to sort through what it read and you are just emotionally exhausted? Well if haven't, you sure as hell will with this book. I haven't felt this way since I came across Tiffany Reisz's Original Sinners series, which you all know is one of my absolute favorite series. This book will probably rip your heart out. It was incredible.
Winters definitely is a master with a pen. This story was so gripping and heart wrenching. The concept is very interesting and very terrifying. Our main character, Tess, was just visiting Mexico with her boyfriend, Brax, for their anniversary. One simple act of wanting something cold to drink turns tragic. Tess is kidnapped and is going to be sold to only God knows who. But she is determined. She won;t let anyone break her, she will fight tooth and nail to get free. Her fighting has caused her to get sold quickly to a man named Q. She doesn't know him, she just knows he wants her as his slave and she will fight him every chance she gets.

I loved Tess. Her stubbornness and new found strength made me love her so much and it essentially saves her life more than once. We see her not only try to fight to get out of her predicament, but we see her find herself. It was such a dark and yet satisfying journey to witness. Then we have Q. I think I can fill up a novel just reviewing Q. From the second we meet him, we know we are in for something major. Boy, you have no idea. He is scary, damaged and twisted. He wants Tess to know he is her new master. After everything Tess has witnessed though, she is not completely against having Q as a master. He has awakened something in her that she has been afraid to face. She thought tame and safe was what she wanted, but she craves something more and only Q can give it to her.
I loved the progression of this book. Tess finds herself is quite the situation. She goes from cage to another, but one of them she wants to stay in. She wants to get to know her owner. I know this sounds weird, but you really do understand while reading the book. Tess wants that darkness. I loved the push and pull between them. This is not going to be that perfect little romance. Don't go into this expecting that and that is part of the beauty of the book. This book is dark and twisted, maybe too twisted for some. Your brain will be bouncing all over the place specifically due to Q. He is such a complex character, but I won't spoil the how or why. Just wait until you read it.

This is easily one of the best, if not, the best read of 2013 for me. I knew that this book was going to go to take me to some dark places, but it really surpassed that and more for me. I didn't see that coming, especially that epilogue. Oh my goodness, that was incredible.

Overall, highly recommended but only if you can handle really dark subjects. There is rape and abuse in this book. It is quite graphic as you can imagine. Winters holds no punches, it is all or nothing. This book will rip to pieces and it will be exquisite.

About Pepper Winters

Pepper Winters wears many roles. Some of them include writer, reader, sometimes wife. She loves dark, taboo stories that twist with your head. The more tortured the hero, the better, and she constantly thinks up ways to break and fix her characters. Oh, and sex… her books have sex.

She loves to travel and has an amazing, fabulous hubby who puts up with her love affair with her book boyfriends.

Her debut book Tears of Tess will be followed with Quintessentially Q. You didn’t think Q could stop so soon, did you? Her other two titles, Last Shadow and Broken Chance will be coming soon.

Due to the daily spam comments I have been getting lately and to avoid the annoying word verification, Anonymous comments are no more. I do not want bargains on bags, watches, jerseys, boots and other crap. Geez, they could at least spam me with book and movie stuff, I would be somewhat interested LOL! Thank you :D
