Synopsis from Goodreads

Project Sapphire: The World’s first AI. A top-secret project exposed to a select group of scientists. Lei Heaton, a man desperate to save his daughter, is at the top of the bionics empire. He not only hired the team to repair his daughter’s damaged body, he plans to reanimate her dead mind using the Sapphire AI.

A dangerous man—a killer that is no regular human…

Maxwell Landon—codename: Deimos—is the Adelphi Organization’s top agent. His M.O is simple: Never fail. He's used to annihilating anyone that gets in his way. But this time, he's being called to protect and deliver. Deimos is aware that this mission won't be like any other. Then he lays eyes on the resurrected Ms. Heaton, and instantly he knows:

That is not Magdalena Heaton.

And he will never be the same again.

Control, his most prized possession, is ripped from him with a single glance...

The violent attraction he feels for the girl complicates matters immediately. But what Deimos doesn't know is that things are about to get much worse. Sapphire isn't just a completely different person than the dead Ms. Heaton—she's the AI miracle of the century. An advancement that many would kill to own.

Including himself, no matter how hard he fights against it.

A girl determined to protect her creator. A man determined to protect her...

Despite the fact that she is not Magdalena, Sapphire is bent on taking her place as Mr. Heaton's daughter in order to keep her creator safe. Deimos knows that he has to honor her wish. But the thing inside him is demanding more. More than a touch. A lot more than a taste. It responds to everything about her...every stuttered breath that lets him know she wants him as much as he wants her.

How does he walk away when he knows that no matter how far he is from her, she’ll always be in danger and he'll always hunger for her?

The Exchange is a story that follows a man named Deimos (real name Maxwell, he doesn't let anyone know his real name). Deimos is part man, part machine. The world is more advanced in bionic technology than they know and this helps make Deimos super efficient in is job. He is a killing machine. That is what he was saved for. Due to his reputation of always getting the job done, Deimos is contacted though by a doctor to protect his daughter.  After a little digging, however, he makes a huge discovery. The daughter, Magdalena, died in a car accident. The girl he is actually protecting looks like Magdalena, but she is now a robot named Sapphire. Sapphire is unlike the world has ever seen. She is an AI with a computer generated conscious. She is part machine, but also has her own personality, a conscious. Deimos must try his best to make sure no one knows that someone like Sapphire exists or all hell will break lose.

I loved this. Being a scifi fan, this really tickled my fancy. I kept thinking about the cyclones from Battlestar Galactica. They look and act like humans, but you can't tell them apart from anyone else. Kill one and their memories can be reuploaded into another copy. Well, there wasn't that exactly, but close. Still, that made this book super cool for me.

I really enjoyed the attraction Deimos had to Sapphire. He is really nothing more than an agent. Doesn't really care much about anything outside his job and him meeting Sapphire changed all of that. I loved how he instantly knew that Sapphire was her own person as well. She is strong and has her own feelings.  The Magdelena that existed is truly dead. This is someone entirely different even though, physically, she is the same. The book is told through Deimos' eyes, but I would have loved being in Sapphire's head for a while. I could only imagine how frightening it could be looking like a woman, yet technically being alive for two months. She even hints about that at some point. It is quite scary.

A lot of this book is very character driven. The more time he spends with with Sapphire, the more his feelings grow. He doesn't just want to protect her because it is his job and he doesn't understand that. I think he needs Sapphire. He was, for all intents and purposes, a robot. He didn't really have feelings and what he felt made him seem like a jerk. He doesn't really consider other people's feelings (wait until you see where that leads). I love that Sapphire and Deimos were so hot and heavy for each other as well. They both discover there is much they could learn from each other.

This was one hell of a pageturner though. There is quite a bit of mystery surrounding Sapphire's dad (aka creator). There is a lot more as to why he needs to protect Sapphire. I am dying to see where book 2 will take us. This book did a great job setting up the characters and the world we are to embark in. It is quite a crazy one and I get the feeling it is about to get crazier. I am in love with Bianco's work. I have read a couple of other books by her and she is yet to disappoint. She knows how to reel you into a stiry and this was no exception. I finished this in a day. There is so much more to explore with this series and I am dying to make those discoveries. Definitely recommend this if you love super sexy scifi romances.

About N. Isabelle Blanco

N. Isabelle Blanco was born in Queens, NY (USA). At the age of three, due to an odd fascination with studying her mother's handwriting, she began to read and write. By the time she'd reached kindergarten, she had an extensive vocabulary and her obsession with words began to bleed into every aspect of her life.

An avid reader in her teens, her fascination with Japanese anime eventually led her to the universe of fan fiction, which became her on-again, off-again hobby for the next ten years. During that time she amassed a following of fans that, by her own admission, she would never be able to live without. It was those fans who encouraged her to step beyond the fan fiction realm and try her talent in the publishing world.

N. Isabelle Blanco now has three novellas and two full-length novels under her belt, and spends her days working as an author, web programmer, marketer, and graphic designer. That is when she isn't handling her "spawn", as she calls her son, and brainstorming with him about his future career as a comic book illustrator.

Due to the daily spam comments I have been getting lately and to avoid the annoying word verification, Anonymous comments are no more. I do not want bargains on bags, watches, jerseys, boots and other crap. Geez, they could at least spam me with book and movie stuff, I would be somewhat interested LOL! Thank you :D
