Synopsis from Goodreads

Felicity Summers is an ambitious reporter who's trying to make a name for herself as a serious investigative journalist with the biggest newspaper in the city; the Chicago Word. When she catches wind of a rumor about the city’s mayor that might just be the hottest story of the decade, she jumps at the opportunity to expose the corrupt mayor and derail his chances at winning a second term. All she has to do is infiltrate a private BDSM club to catch him in the act. Simple right? Well, maybe it would have been if not for the club's extremely dominant, gorgeous and charming owner, Sir Alistair Montgomery-Piers. He takes notice of her at one of the scenes and sees something in Felicity that he wants to her to explore. Alistair makes her an offer neither she nor her body can refuse. Can Felicity stay focused on her mission long enough to get the proof for her top secret story, or will Alistair completely take over her heart, mind, body and soul?

Guest Post

Thank you for having me on your site today, I'm very happy
to be here. I suppose I should talk about what made me
want to write my
very first erotica novel. I love reading erotic novels in just
about any
subgenre. I also like to branch out and write in other genres
myself. So erotic
romance was the perfect choice and just for the fun of it all,
I added in a
suspenseful and intricate plot. So the story moves at a fast
and extremely
enticing pace loaded with sizzling sex, humor and intrigue.
It's just a great and
fun story and if you happen to read it, I think you'll enjoy it

As for what music inspired me to write this sexy thriller,
I had a nice selection:

-Change by the Deftones. If you've never heard this song, I
urge you to listen to it. Very sexy.

-Perfume by Britney Spears. I think it's one of her best

-Smell like Funk – Black Eye Peace. This is just a smooth
beat that flows so well.

Thank you for checking out my book and I hope you get a chance
to read it. :D

I have to say, when I finished this book, I laughed. Not because I didn't like this. Oh, quite the opposite. As a matter of fact, of all the erotic books I have read, this is one of, if not, the best one I have yet. I laughed due to how people acted after reading 50 Shades of Grey and how that was just too much for a lot of them. It is just hilarious in comparison because now I know they truly don't know what they were talking about. I would go as far to say 50 Shades of Grey is timid compared to this. Let's just say Simmons didn't just take the cake, she stole the whole damn bakery. I remember reading a joke about how ereaders should come with a vibrating function. After reading this, they should. They really, really should.

Our main character Felicity is a reporter. She wants to move up at the paper she writes for. She gets word that the greedy mayor of Chicago is into some pretty kinky stuff. So she wants to catch him in the act to ruin his chances of re-election. Upon arrival at a supposed hotspot of his, she finds that she is not as opposed to the BDSM scene as she thought she would be. She finds a way to get a membership so she could catch the dirty mayor, but instead she meets up with the owner, Alistair. Alistair is taken by Felicity and sees she is interested in the lifestyle even if she tries to deny it. He sets up a contract to teach her all about his world. What starts as a simple arrangement turns into something neither of them were expecting.
I am a huge of Simmons work. I love her Knight of the Darkness Chronicles series (loved the tidbit about the KOTDC tv show. One can only pray). So when I heard that she was writing an erotic novel, I had to jump on board because I know she will deliver something different and she really did. Simmons has a way of opening your mind and seeing things from all sides. I love how much detail she puts into her characters and the things around them. I always get so lost in her books that whenever I am done reading one of her books, I feel like I gained a friend somehow. It is amazing and it couldn't be more true here. The friendship between Felicity and Alison is amazing. They are both pretty determined women who speak their minds especially Allison. It is impossible not to love her comebacks. She killed me. And Alistair. Wow, just woooooow. I have many book boyfriends, but Alistair is so good, he goes right next to my ultimate book boyfriend, Jericho Barrons. Yeah, he is THAT good. I encourage those over the age of 18 to read this, I swear, you won't know who the hell Christian Grey is after this. He will be an afterthought.
The main focus of this book was seeing how Alistair and Felicity grew together. And honestly, how we the readers grew with them. Simmons really did her homework. This was an insanely hot read, but I also have a lot more knowledge about the BDSM world. Like I said, Simmons really digs deep and understands the world she is creating and the characters she puts into it. With that, you get a lot of descriptions. I mean a lot. If super detailed and explicit sex scenes are not your thing, I suggest you run because this will scare you. But for the rest us, you will melt or hunt down your partner. This story is pretty fast paced and even still I wish it were longer so we could get more of those scenes. I really have surprised myself over the years. Seriously, a few years ago this wouldn't have been my thing, but thanks to authors like Simmons, that has changed.
Now, I obviously loved the sex scenes, but I love the suspenseful scenes as well. Things take quite a turn in the book that I didn't expect. I love how well everything ties into place with the romance and the thriller aspect. Everything is put on the table at this point. It had me biting my nails. One thing I will say is that I would of liked a bit more confrontation at this part of the book. But that could be just me. I think I may be one of those vengeful types. Nonetheless, I loved where this went. This really put things into balance for our characters. It quite the turning point.
I think I could talk about this book all day. I loved it so much. Our characters are super sexy and open minded. I love how much we experience with them. Speaking of which, this is a standalone story, but I wouldn't mind seeing Allison find her perfect match (or matches). The ending was just perfect. I had a big goofy smile on my face. I couldn't help it, it hit all the right notes. Simmons has done it again. This is getting a very high rating from me. If you aren't a Simmons fan girl yet, you better get on board. Now excuse me, there are a few scenes I would like to read over again. For research purposes, of course.

I dislike having to murder someone. Kidnapping is worse. At least when I setup a kill, I know what's coming. No connections, no honesty, no surprises. Everything I say and do are just steps to luring in my victim. Once the victim falls right into the trap, the next move is swift: crushed windpipe, fatal concussion, or a good ol' fashioned headshot.

Kidnapping, on the other hand, is a little trickier. First, the victim has an opportunity to respond. I don't like this. Sometimes they cry. Sometimes they manage to alert the authorities. And sometimes they escape, usually by inflicting bodily harm on me.

Dead people don't retaliate. Kidnapped ones, well, they're a little more . . . lively.

The second major difference between killing and kidnapping is my conscience. I get in and out with a kill. We have no chance to bond.

Abductees require a little more one-on-one. As much as I try to keep the switch turned off, I can't help but listen to their pleas and demands. And I usually realize I'm a jerk.

That's exactly where I find myself one late afternoon in June. I prefer doing this at night, but moreover, I would prefer not doing this at all.

Instead, I have a belligerent nine year old girl sitting in the passenger seat of my Honda Accord, shackles on her wrists and ankles and a small stuffed bunny on her lap. She's eying me in a way that makes me self-conscious. Like I'm the bad guy.

Probably because I am the bad guy.

Synopsis from Goodreads

Illusion is the only reality.

Jane’s new career as a composer is a dream come true, but her blossoming relationship with Adam is marred by his terrifying nightmares. When Jane receives a warning that a shadowy agency is targeting Adam’s seminary school, she rescues him in the nick of time, but the only way she can protect him from such a powerful enemy is to run.

In a shocking betrayal, her brother wasn’t the one who warned her about the attack on Adam. Instead, Devin was leading it. As Jane struggles to keep one step ahead of Devin, Adam’s exhaustion gives way to horror: His nightmares have begun to touch the real world.

Jane can’t abandon Adam to a fate worse than death, and far more than Adam’s life hangs in the balance. As Jane pushes further into the dark unknown, she must challenge everything she once believed in, and she faces the most wrenching decision of her life: choosing between the two people she loves most.

Synthetic Illusions is the sequel to Artificial Absolutes, a book I really enjoyed last year. We are still following Jane, Adam, and her brother, Devin. Although it seems they are a bit apart at the moment. Devin is working for the ISARK again. The ISARK are not too kind when it comes to the synthetic A.I.s walking around. In fact, they are taking things to a whole different level and this puts Devin and Jane at odds. Jane is is love with Adam, a synthetic A.I., but that doesn't matter to Devin. A horrible attack has taken place and it seems that Adam was the one responsible. Now Jane and Adam are on the run again until they figure out what is really going on before her brother turns them in or worse.

Fan has managed to turn it up even more the second time. I loved this a lot. There is even more action in this book. If I could, I would pay to get this turned into a movie. It would look cool as hell. I loved Jane in this book. She has really grown from book 1. She is finally fulfilling her composer dreams and is becoming the person she wants to be despite her father's wishes. He thought music was a worthless thing to waste your life on. We see Jane at her dad's funeral and it was sad to see how much he didn't care about Jane's life. I really felt for her.

We also have Devin. We meet Devin and really wonder what the hell happened. The ISARK has really gotten in his head. He knows the ISARK knows his every move, but we never would have thought he would have been so abiding to them. He has decided to become an operative for them and that has him and Jane at odds. The things he does to try and get Jane were scary. I couldn't believe especially given all that she did for him in the first book. I wanted to strangle him so badly. Then we have Adam. I really loved Adam in this book. He may be an A.I., but he had more feelings than Jane's own brother. He has gone through a lot and is still being tortured by Pandora (even though she is dead). He will do absolutely anything to save Jane even sacrifice himself. It was very hard not to love him. Jane and Adam are a couple to be reckoned with and I was rooting for them from the get go. You will too.

The story is very fast paced, but not overwhelming. Fan has quite a talent for giving you multiple characters and information without feeling like they are crowding you.  I was so immersed in every character and what they added to the book. Lots of interesting side characters along with our main three. I also really enjoyed the villain in this book as well. You know I love an awesome villain and this one nailed it. Just brilliant. I meant it, the guy is quite the mastermind. I also love the addition of Ines. We saw her a bit in the first book. I have my fingers and toes crossed in hopes of her getting her own story, she deserves one. This girl is a badass to the core. We need more of her. Oh, I hope we get more of her.

This is such an incredible science fiction read. It is a lot of fun and very action packed. The story will have you at the edge of your seat and these characters are to die for. This book does such a great job showing humanity at its best and its worst from both humans and AIs. It is a bit ironic in a way though given that Adam seemed to be the most human character in the book. I think that is also why he is such a favorite for me. All the good in humanity is really what he represents. I can't wait for more. This is a can't miss series. I am keeping my eyes peeled for more of Fan's work and you should too. She understands her characters and knows how to grip the reader and keep them immersed until the end. Highly recommended.

Synopsis from Emilia I. Rutigliano
They say that when a student is ready, a teacher appears.

What they don’t say is where to register, and how to matriculate in that teacher’s class.
That is a divine gift.

Veronica had it all: the looks, the brains, the personality and the wardrobe. Not to mention a perfect husband, a fabulous career and two adorable children, until the perfect husband leaves her for another woman.

Thus begin the daily routines of a typical New York City immigrant with ambition whose teachers keep appearing, and for whom divine interventions keep affording new opportunities. The new American Dream. Though it starts like ordinary connections going through the tried and true, each relationship continues to delve into parts of her own universe that Veronica didn’t know existed. A universe that is suddenly open to her.

It’s lovely when a brilliant virgin of meager means and a heart of gold meets a brooding billionaire whom only her love can tame… and they wed, have children and live happily ever after. But what about the other eight or so billion people on earth?

What if you are thirty-five, and not ready for a retirement community? What if marriage and hearth aren’t your cup of tea – even with the perfect man? What if there is more than one man – why do you have to choose? What if motherhood wasn’t your only self-definition? What if the kindest, brightest and wealthiest people that extended an invitation to join their world – would you take it – despite their many eccentricities? Why do you have to stop being one thing, in order to become another?

What happens when you reach the glass ceiling? How do you get to fly in the open sky?

It’s a matter of knowing that you can…
And you can…

Synopsis from Emilia I. Rutigliano

Veronica’s story continues.

Ever wonder why there is so much gore in the storybooks that we read to our children? Is it because it is appropriate preparation for life?

Amidst the balls, and gowns and champagne … there are evil stepmothers and death and disease. There are also valiant princes, and kindly matriarchs and enchanted lands. There is no alternate reality though. It is still modern day New York… and Paris, of course.

Still, Veronica needs to get up and go to work, and take the kids to school, and play nice with the ex’s new wife. But each layer is enchanted with its own romance… and its own lover becomes a benevolent wizard. There’s Ben… and Jeremy… and Edmonde. And then there’s KD. Why choose?

These are the games your mama never taught you. These are the men's games, played by a woman. And a woman is only eligible to play when she is taught to see the world differently. It is not just a matter of calculations… it is a matter of nobility. What Jeremy taught in Layers, becomes a world of experience in Fairy tales.

And love is not limited to only one union. They say you only love once… but that is not a fact for Veronica. Each of her bed-mates offers her and demands from her something different.

What starts out as a parochial life, with known participants and variables, is unveiled with more and more opportunities. Each comes with a privilege and an obligation – and Veronica has never shirked an obligation. Not even in a fairy tale.

It is a fun journey to an unknown destination.

Synopsis from Emilia I. Rutigliano

Veronica’s story continues.

What happens after the bloom?

Physical recovery post-trauma is not the difficult part. How do you heal the other parts of you? And what if you were stupid enough to throw out the healer in your life?

Every relationship takes work. Every relationship is a lesson. Each has a depth.

Where NAPOLEON and FAIRYTALES opened a magical kingdom dominated and ruled by men, PETALS introduces the same monarchy ruled by women

There is a new perspective of the same world and the same characters relating to women. Taking your place among the nobility requires a lot… and not all of it require a marriage or blueblood.

The more we change, the more we discover we are still the person we were, and those who understand us best are the ones that knew us from the onset.

In PETALS… Veronica’s life goes global, and she unites her family with the aristocracy around her, without betraying who she was from the start.

The prettiest of blooms commence with the nurturing of the seed.

But it wouldn’t be Veronica’s life if there weren’t more lovers, more galas, more jewels and, of course, more heartbreak…

There are the kids, the dog, the ex’s new wife, the practice of law, and a lot of dessert and spirits…

“You see the details and you are awed by them. It shows in your dress, in your manner, in how you look at things, how you eat... It’s all art. No amount of money or education can give it to you. You either see it, or you don’t.” He took another sip.

He was about to tie it all together for her. “Our society works in layers...”

“Oh, my god ... what did you just say?” Her eyes opened wide, and she stared at him. But he didn’t see what was so shocking.

“Our society works in layers. Notice I didn’t say levels. It’s not linear.” This was important. He needed her to see this. “Think of it this way. You consider a person’s worth by their financial statement. This is how much you earn/own, and this is how much you owe/spend. Like, John Smith is worth a billion dollars. With me so far?”

She shook her head ... Someone else subscribes to the layers theory? She continued to stare at him.

“You transcend that, Veronica. There are several more layers of you that you don’t even know. You know that you are very beautiful, but you also have this magnificent charisma, this affect on people. You talk with your clients, your friends, your kids, and with me on completely different “layers”... like a napoleon, yes?”

She nodded her head, still in awe.

“It isn’t that one layer is better than the other, although some will argue that the soaked bottom is best because it has the most flavor; others will say the flaky top is best; still others prefer the middle because it is just the right amount. But one cannot exist without the other. I would very much like to see you discover the layers of yourself. There are many that you have not discovered, and it's only because no one has taught you. You excel in things that you do. You’re quite a virtuoso, and I’d like to teach you about more. Interested?“

I’m being presented with an opportunity. Am I even hearing this correctly? Did he just say that there is another world, layers, that I am worthy of attaining, and that he would like to help me reach and discover these layers? Wasn’t that what I was hoping for when we first met … to learn from him? Concentrate, Nika, this is serious. “I’m more than interested, Jeremy, but I’m unaware of what is required of me.”

He smiled. “Good question. There are many layers here, but let’s deal with the first two. First things first... you have trust issues.”

About Emilia I. Rutigliano

Emilia I. Rutigliano scored fiftieth percentile on her SATs... and on her LSATs... and on her BAR...Sigh...
But she nevertheless survived, and seems to be doing OK. She practices Law read lore) in Brooklyn, New York (read Nu Yawk). She was born in the former Soviet Union, and emigrated in 1979. She is happily married to the same crazy Italian she's been with since college, who suffers from a severe addition to travel (still in acute form). Together they are doing a somewhat passable job with their three precious darlings (who are now teenagers, thus elaboration is not necessary).
Which is why Emilia writes about Veronica. Veronica, though... is interesting. And Emilia knows interesting.
So she weaved the tale about the interesting characters, places and events from her own life. It is remarkable how if you choose to view a subject objectively, it becomes downright artistically gorgeous. So Emilia views and shows Brooklyn Russians as gorgeous, and the Barese intricacies as gorgeous, and she even tolerates Paris, Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia for the reader's interests.
Thank you, dear reader, for tolerating these scenes....
